Overview

When Grace Gong launched the first Smart AI Summit, the vision wasn't to create another massive tech conference.

It was to build a highly curated room where the people shaping AI could actually meet one another—bringing together founders building the technology, investors funding it and enterprise leaders putting it to work.

Mostest partnered with Grace and Smart Venture Media to help turn that first summit from an idea into an in-person experience.

The concept proved powerful: Smart AI Summit has since grown into a recurring series bringing together founders, VCs and senior executives from some of the most influential companies in technology. Smart Venture Media says the series grew from approximately 100 people at its first event to 400+ at a later summit. LinkedIn

The Goal

Don't build the biggest AI conference. Build the right room.

The inaugural Summit was designed around quality of connection rather than volume of attendance.

The goal was to create an environment intimate enough for meaningful conversations, but credible enough to attract an exceptional mix of AI founders, investors and executives.

That meant the experience itself had to match the caliber of the guest list: thoughtful, polished and intentionally different from a traditional conference.

The Challenge

Launching an event for the first time means building the operating playbook while simultaneously producing the experience.

There was no established Summit format to replicate. The team was creating the brand, guest journey and physical experience in real time—all while delivering for a highly sophisticated audience.

And with a deliberately limited guest list, every element mattered. The success of the event wasn't going to be measured by how many people could fit in the room.

It was going to be measured by who was in it—and what happened when they met.

The Mostest Approach

Mostest worked alongside Grace and Smart Venture Media to bring the inaugural experience to life.

The Results

The first Summit became the foundation for a recurring event series.

Grace Gong has described building the Smart AI Summit series from scratch and subsequently bringing together C-suite executives and VPs, venture investors and prominent AI founders. LinkedIn

The format has continued to scale while retaining its focus on curation. Smart Venture Media describes the audience as intentionally limited to decision-makers and says attendance grew from roughly 100 at the first Summit to 400+ at a later edition. LinkedIn

That's a particularly strong Mostest case-study outcome:

~100 guests at the inaugural Summit → 400+ as the concept scaled.

Why It Worked

The product wasn't the stage. It was the room.

Grace knew who needed to be together. Mostest helped create the experience that brought them together.

What started as an inaugural gathering became a repeatable platform for connecting the founders building AI, the investors backing them and the executives deploying it.

Build the right room, and people come back.
